Consumer Council hotline service available from 20 December


The Consumer Council will provide services to consumers during long holidays in December, inquiry and complaint calls from consumers will be picked up by designated staff. Schedule as follows:

Reminders for consumers

Consumers are reminded to know more about the terms before making purchases, pay attention to any attached conditions of holiday deals, and check if restaurants are charging surcharge or if any price adjustments have been made. Consumers should inquire the business when in doubt and confirm before making transaction, shopping receipts must also be kept to safeguard personal consumer rights.

Businesses asked to respect consumer rights

Businesses from all industries are called on to treat customers with high quality services and be patient when serving tourists worldwide due to differences in shopping cultures. Details of the goods or services should be explained clearly to consumers to avoid any dispute and affect the image of Macao as a tourism city.

The Consumer Council hotline 8988 9315 will be available for consumers’ complaints and inquiries, assistance and support will also be provided if necessary. Consumers may also seek assistance from other related enforcing departments.

Consumers may lodge their complaints online on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) or via WeChat, cases will be processed on the first working day after holidays.
