Consumer Council collected prices of 11 festive foods, including sweets and biscuits, from 24 retail outlets on 17 January. The collected data has been uploaded to the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) and the ‘Supermarket Price Information Platform’ iPhone and Android apps. Consumers can also check the data through the Council’s official WeChat account.
Surveyed products include: ‘Ferrero Rocher/300g(24pcs)’, ‘Lindt Lindor (Red)/168g(14pcs)’, ‘Brown & Haley Almond Roca/340g’, ‘Sugus Assorted Fruited Flavour Chews/350g’, ‘Planters Premium Collection/750g’, ‘MAUNA LOA Macadamia Nuts (225g)’, ‘Gala Crackers (Red)/400g’, ‘Kjeldsens Butter Cookies/908g’, ‘Eulong Cookie Rolls (Red)/908g’, ‘Garden Assorted Biscuit/500g’, and ‘Sau Tao Abalone Noodle/684g(12pcs)’.
The price survey on these 11 festive foods from 24 retail outlets reveals price differences from 17.01% percent (‘Sau Tao Abalone Noodle/684g(12pcs)’) to 79.59% percent ‘Lindt Lindor (Red)/168g(14pcs)’. Consumers are advised to check the ‘Specific Price Information Platform’ to make price comparisons.
As Chinese New Year is approaching, it is now peak season for consumers to purchase festive foods like candies and biscuits, consumers are reminded to check the trademark and product label on the foods, as well as to keep their shopping receipts.
Retailers are also called on to pay special attention when purchasing products from wholesalers to make sure the products are imported legally, and to check the quality to safeguard the rights and health of consumers.
