Cultural Affairs Bureau closes cultural facilities


In response to the current outbreak of the new coronavirus, all public libraries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau will be closed from 2pm on 24 January, and all cultural venues will be closed from 25 January. The reopening date of the cultural venues will be announced in due course.

During the closing period of the public libraries, the loan period for borrowed books will be extended accordingly. The self-service book return system at the libraries will be maintained. IC will also cancel the event “Let’s Celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Rat” and all related activities, scheduled to be held from 23 January to 9 February.

In addition, IC urges all subsidized entities of the “Financial Support for Local Association Activities/ Cultural Projects Programme” to avoid organizing events/ projects that involve a high concentration of people, and postpone or cancel their activities according to the actual circumstances. In case there is a postponement of the subsidized event/ project, the entities can declare and explain the reason only when submitting the report, and no formalities are required. For the adjustment or cancellation of the subsidized events/ projects due to the epidemic situation, please contact IC.
