Ten Higher Education Institutions of Macao Postpone Classes till 11 February


In light of the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Macao, for the purpose of lowering the risk of the spread of the virus, ten higher education institutions of Macao, namely University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Academy of Public Security Forces, Macau University of Science and Technology, City University of Macau, University of Saint Joseph, Kiang Wu Nursing College, Macau Institute of Management and Macau Millennium College, after examining the situation with the Higher Education Bureau, agreed unanimously that all classes will be postponed to 11 th February (Tuesday).

The Higher Education Bureau keeps paying close attention to the latest developments of the novel coronavirus, and will maintain tight communication with all higher education institutions in Macao, in order to take proper preventive measures, for securing the safety of all higher education students. Meanwhile, the SAR government advises all students to avoid going out, unless necessary, during the Chinese New Year holiday, especially staying in crowded places. In addition, students are reminded to take proper preventive measures.

Non-Local Higher Education Programmes Operating in Macao Postpone Classes

After communicating with the local collaboration entities in Macao, classes will be postponed to or after 11th February (Tuesday). For more details, please contact the local collaboration entities, including Macao Polytechnic Institute, Kiang Wu Nursing College, Macau Institute of Management, Macau Millennium College, Amateur Continuing Study Centre, Jiyu Service Center and COD Resorts Limited.

Classes Postponed in Higher Education Institutions of Hubei

In addition, according to the notice issued by the Hubei Provincial Peoples Government, all higher education institutions in Hubei Province have postponed the resumption of classes. The specific time will be announced later.

Regarding the schedules of classes of higher education institutions in other provinces and cities in Mainland China, the Higher Education Bureau will keep close communication with the Ministry of Education. At present, the Ministry of Education is closely monitoring the situation and conducting research. Macao students studying in other regions are advised to pay attention to relevant news.
