Due to New Coronavirus Outbreak, FSS Contribution Period Extended to the End of February

In response to the new coronavirus outbreak, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced that it would extend the payment period of the contributions, and the employment fee for non-resident workers to 28th February and exempt any late payment interest and fines. Beneficiaries of old-age and disability pension can provide the proof of life by the end of March, and this will not affect their benefit payment of April. The FSS calls on residents to make enquiries and apply for various social security services by electronic means to avoid crowds and protect residents’ health.

January is the payment monthfor the Social Security System's contributions for the fourth quarter of 2019, and the employment fee for non-resident workers, and the contribution month of the casual workers for December 2019. Based on our information, there are currently about 1,200 employers who have not yet made their payments. In order to avoid residents gathering because of the need to rush to the service points for payment of contributions, the FSS has decided to extend the contribution period to 28th February and exempt the latepayment interest and fines. For contributions that requirelate payment interest, the relevant period is also extended to 28th February.

In addition, most of the services of the two-tiered social security system can be enquired and applied electronically (using the “Conta Única de Acesso Comum” account or ePass account to log in to the online system or to do it through the self-service machines). The FSS encourages residents to make good use of the electronic services. For services that cannot be applied online or through the self-service machine, residents can choose to mail the relevant documents and the originalof the application formto Alameda Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção, Nos. 249-263, Edf. China Civil Plaza, 18.º andar, Macau. In addition, all service points of the FSS have a document collection box. If employers or residents still choose to visit a service point to handle the service, they may also choose to put the documents directly to the collection box, besides the FSS service counters.

Tomake enquiries about the various social security services or the details about the above arrangements, residents may visit the FSS’ website, call the 24-hour interactive voice response hotline, or call 2853 2850.
