DSEJ COOPERATES WITH SCHOOLS TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ARRANGEMENTS FOR STUDENTS TO STUDY AT HOME DURING CLASS SUSPENSION

Due to the novel coronavirus epidemic situation, class resumption date of schools of non-tertiary education in Macao will be postponed to 10th February, 2020 (Monday) or later. To ensure that learning will be continue while classes are suspended, and students are able to continue to carry out appropriate learning activities during the period of class suspension as well as to make good preparations for class resumption, the DSEJ has informed schools to make appropriate arrangements for students to study at home, urge students to stay at home to study and avoid going to crowded places.

In addition, considering that theepidemic situation is quite severe,it may not be suitable to convene meetings for teaching staff to attend. The DSEJ has recommended schools to consider flexible arrangements for teachers to work from home on rotation, to arrange and correct assignments online, and to provide on-call support, etc. before the resumption of classes.Schools are recommended to inform teaching staff of the matters needing attention and conduct discussion through electronic channels. If face-to-face group discussion is needed, it is recommended to try to arrange the meeting place and time of various groups in a scattering manner as far as possible, and control the number of people in each group to avoid the gathering of a large crowd. The DSEJ will continue to work closely with schools to ensure, to the greatest extent possible, the safety of teachers and students.
