First patient treated in Macao for novel coronavirus discharged from hospital

The first person to be treated in Macao for confirmed infection from the novel coronavirus has recovered from the disease. The outcome followed just over two weeks of treatment at the city’s Conde S. Januário Hospital.

The 52-year-old female patient was discharged due to the improvement in her health, and after twice testing negative for any remaining presence of the novel coronavirus. All relevant laboratory indicators in relation to her health were now at a normal level.

The patient is a resident of Wuhan, Hubei Province. She left Macao in the afternoon today.

The patient had arrived in Macao on 19 January via the Border Gate boundary checkpoint. She attended on 21 January Conde S. Januário Hospital complaining of a cough. The patient subsequently tested positive for the novel coronavirus. A scan then revealed she had signs of pneumonia. From that time until her release today, she had been treated in an isolation ward at the hospital.
