Government closely monitoring suspension of flights to Macao

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is paying close attention to suspension – by certain overseas countries and places – of particular flights to and from Macao.

Macao is not an area of community-spread infection involving the novel coronavirus COVID-19; the disease is under control within the community.

Flights between Macao and Republic of the Philippines have been cancelled until March by relevant airline operators. The Macao SAR Government understood that the arrangements made by airline operators were due to fewer passengers. The Macao SAR Government noted some 400 Philippine citizens – either working or travelling in Macao – had claimed they have consequently not been able to fly to their home country via Macao.

The Macao SAR Government noted there were three flights a day from Hong Kong to Manila, as well as flights every Friday from Hong Kong to Cebu City. People affected by flight suspensions involving Macao routes might consider taking such alternatives in order to be able to return to their home country.
