Macao confirms 45th COVID-19 case


The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has confirmed today a new case of imported COVID-19 infection, taking to 45 the tally of confirmed cases in Macao.

The latest case involves a 32-year-old male Macao resident, who was returning from the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The now-patient reported he had a fever and cough on 20 March. On Tuesday (7 April), he took Cambodia Angkor Air flight K6198 from Phnom Penh to Macao. He was in seat number 20D. During airport checkpoint formalities, he was detected with a fever and was immediately transported to Conde S. Januário Hospital for further examination. A nasopharyngeal swab test conducted today confirmed he had COVID-19.

The patient is now being kept in isolation for treatment at Conde S. Januário Hospital. He is described as showing mild clinical signs of infection relating to the novel coronavirus.
