Since the suspension of classes due to the epidemic situation, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) has been communicating closely with schools, paying attention to the health and safety of all the teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students, and has repeatedly called on teachers, school staff and students who were in countries/regions other than Macao, Zhuhai or Zhongshan to return to their place of residence as soon as possible. In this way, aside from ensuring their health and safety, it can also help prepare well for the resumption of classes. In accordance with the current plan for resumption of classes, senior secondary schools will resume classes from 4th May. If teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students are still in countries/regions other than Macao, Zhuhai or Zhongshan, they must undergo a 14-day quarantine and take the nucleic acid test.
In addition, after having discussed with the health department in Macao, in order to ensure the health and safety of teaching and non-teaching staff as well as students, the “Nucleic Acid Testing Plan for Non-tertiary teaching and Non-teaching Staff and Cross-border Students” has been implemented. Therefore, all teachers, school staff and personnel who conduct activities with students of non-tertiary education schools, such as, student counsellors, therapists, special duty personnel, instructors of leisure activities and so forth, have to take the nucleic acid test before resumption of classes.
At the same time, the DSEJ is also very concerned about teachers and students living in Macao but teaching and studying in Zhuhai. After coordinating with relevant departments in mainland China, the related teachers and students can freely travel between Macao and Zhuhai for teaching and studying after taking the nucleic acid test in Macao and completing the declaration procedures at the relevant department in Zhuhai. The DSEJ has notified the five teachers and students who involve in Zhuhai’s first stage of school resumption to go to the Conde S. Januário Hospital to take the nucleic acid test. The DSEJ will continue to communicate with the mainland authority for a smooth resumption of classes.
Besides, admission interviews of “Central registration for children entering into Kindergarten for the first time” will start from 2nd May. With the assistance of the Health Bureau and the cooperation of the Macau’s Women Federation, 6 child face masks are to be distributed by the DSEJ to each child who needs to be interviewed. The related registration was closed on 22nd April, the number of registrants is about 4,574. The arrangements for collecting the masks started yesterday (25th April) and will end on 29th April. Parents who have completed the registration are urged to collect the masks in accordance with the selected date, time and location. With the assistance of the Macau’s Women Federation and the Public Security Police Force, the collecting of the masks is smooth. As of 15:00, 26th April, 2,276 people have collected the masks.
