UM Master of Science in Accounting programme receives maximum exam exemptions from ACCA

The Master of Science in Accounting programme, offered by the Department of Accounting and Information Management, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), University of Macau (UM), has been fully accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the recent re-accreditation. Students enrolled in the programme are entitled to a maximum of nine exam exemptions with the ACCA. This accreditation makes FBA's Master of Science in Accounting programme one of the programmes in the Greater Bay Area to receive the maximum number of exam exemptions from the ACCA.

Founded in 1904, the ACCA is a leading professional accountancy body and its accreditations are widely recognised in the world. The prestigious ACCA professional accreditation not only signifies international recognition and the quality of the accredited programme, but also allow students in the programme to obtain a maximum of nine ACCA exam exemptions, which is the highest in the Greater Bay Area.

According to Jean Chen, dean of the FBA, the ACCA accreditation helps reinforce the faculty’s aspiration to become a model world-class business institute and increases the degree of internationalisation at UM. She attributes the success of the accreditation to the hard work of the professional accreditation team in the department, adding that the accreditation reflects a new direction of the FBA—to develop signature programmes in the Great Bay Area. Prof Chen also expresses gratitude to the university’s leadership as well as the faculty members for pushing ahead with this meaningful task during the epidemic, which she says will enhance the international reputation of the faculty and the university as a whole.

UM’s FBA is a comprehensive flagship business school and aims to nurture business leaders and management professionals for Macao and neighbouring regions. Moving steadily towards its goal of becoming a world-class business school, it is the first in Macao to have received accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA). It is also an official member of the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) and the Global Business School Network.
