The Macao Orchestra and the Macao Chinese Orchestra, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will resume its performances from July onwards. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic, some of the concerts scheduled will be cancelled as the performers are not be able to visit Macao.
The Macao Orchestra will stage the concert “Classical Express – Back for Fun”, integrated in the OM Young Audience Programme Activity, on 18 July, in which the young audience will be taken on a journey to the paradise of classical music in an intriguing and interactive way. In addition, the Macao Chinese Orchestra, in collaboration with the Macao Science Centre, will hold an outreach activity of the concert “Musical Magic Wand” on 11 July, in which the audience will be able to explore the centre through Chinese music. The Orchestra will also present the concert “A Night of Chinese Music Classics” on 26 July, at the Macao Cultural Centre, featuring a programme of Chinese music masterpieces, including Ambush from All Sides and Jubilant Water Splashing Festival. Admission to the abovementioned activities and performances is free. In addition, the “Performances in the sphere of the Insightful Cultural Excursion in the Inner Harbour area and Taipa” scheduled to be held in July, will feature performances by the Macao Orchestra at the Taipa Houses and Carmo Fair in Taipa and a performance by the Macao Chinese Orchestra at the Barra Square on the Macao Peninsula.
Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions, several performers are not able to visit Macao. Therefore, some of the concerts originally scheduled for July will be cancelled, including the Macao Orchestra’s concerts “Dancing to Music” on 11 July, “Magnificent Winds” on 18 July, and “2019-20 Season Closing Concert: Beethoven Piano Concertos by Rudolf Buchbinder” on 24 and 25 July; and the Macao Chinese Orchestra’s “2019-2020 Season Closing Concert: Dance to Picturesque Melodies” on 26 July.
