More than 70 Macao and Bay Area Enterprises Participated in MPI Careers Day

MPI Careers Day 2021 is grandly opened, with more than 70 enterprises joining online and offline career fair

In order to strengthen institute-enterprise cooperation, and provide enterprises and students with a career matching platform in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, Macao Polytechnic Institute is organizing series of activities for “MPI Careers Day 2021”. Activities include online and offline career exhibitions by more than 70 enterprises, the provision of more than 2,000 employment and internship opportunities and more than a dozen employment talks. The talks cover topics of job interview strategies, youth entrepreneurship and innovation, emerging in the world’s majors, youth Bay Area development and other issues, so as to assist students in their career development planning. Many prospective graduates and students were attracted to the on-site registration and matching.

The opening ceremony of “MPI Careers Day 2021” was held in the Institute in the morning of 4th March, inaugurated by enterprise representatives and guests. In the opening speech, Vivian Lei, Vice-President of MPI said that the Institute has been focusing on professional and talent-oriented training, and relevant undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes have been established in response to the needs of the society. Over the years, high-quality teaching has been carried out to foster outstanding graduates and practical talents for enterprises and institutions. At the same time, MPI pays attention to scientific research-driven teaching and cultivates multifaceted talents with innovative thinking and professional scientific research capabilities, so as to expand the talent pool for the construction of Macao and the country. With the Greater Bay Area construction accelerating, exchanges between Macao and the Greater Bay Area cities are becoming more frequent, and MPI is working actively to implement the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” to encourage young people to integrate themselves into the development of the Greater Bay Area. In order to broaden students’ horizons, besides organizing field trips to enhance students’ understanding of the Greater Bay Area, enterprises in the area are also invited to take part in the employment exhibition and entrepreneurship promotion activities.

The event organiser, Student Affairs Office of MPI stated that the graduate survey report-December 2020 showed 70% of MPI graduates were successfully employed within 1 to 3 months with the average monthly salary of MOP$15,900. The majority of the graduates are engaged in careers related to their study majors, and 10% of the graduates continue with their post-graduate studies at famous universities in Portugal, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and China, as well as at MPI. MPI hopes that through the Career Days series of activities, students will be provided with a variety of channels in understanding the current employment environment and market demand, assisting students to keep up with industry development and job market trends; letting students to present their outstanding characteristics when interacting with the representatives of recruiting companies, which benefits them with the hiring opportunities. The series of activities of MPI Career Days include Career Fair, Career Talks, Career Opportunities in Greater Bay Area, Resume and Interview Tips, English Mock Up Interview and Corporate Visits.
