“Macao Week in Hangzhou” to open next week promoting Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination

“Macao Week in Hangzhou” roadshow will be held on 26 – 29 March

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government will present the roadshow “Macao Week in Hangzhou” in Hangzhou from 26 – 29 March 2021. Following the “Beijing Macao Week” in Beijing last September, the “Macao Week in Hangzhou” will enliven Hubin Pedestrian Street with a mega roadshow in Hangzhou to showcase the city’s diverse offer of travel experiences and commercial opportunities to locals and visitors there. Raising Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination, the event seeks to attract Mainland visitors for travel and spending in Macao to expand visitor source and spur economic revival.

Macao Week in Hangzhou showcases colorful dimensions “tourism +”

An opening ceremony will lift the curtain upon the Macao Week in Hangzhou on 26 March, following a Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar to be held for industry exchange and cooperation between both cities on 25 March. The Macao Week in Hangzhou involves various governmental entities from Macao as well as the support of different enterprises and commerce associations which will join the organizers to unfold a mega roadshow on Hubin Pedestrian Street on 26 – 29 March to showcase Macao’s tourism, commerce and trade, culture, sports, entertainment and more dimensions to locals and visitors. The event will promote Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination to visit, as well as integration across fields such as tourism + MICE, tourism + culture and creativity, tourism + e-commerce and tourism + sports.

The roadshow will feature an array of booths themed as follows: overview about Macao, events and cultural tourism; Macao’s World Heritage, Intangible Cultural Heritage as well as cultural and creative industries; sport events; MinM made in Macao and local brands; products from Portuguese-speaking countries as well as a showcase of Macao’s tourism industry jointly presented by pertinent integrated tourism enterprises and airline company. A LED screen modeled after the Ruins of St. Paul’s will radiate the city’s charm at the main stage, whereas tourist information counters will provide Macao travel tips at the venue.

The roadshow will dazzle with glow-in-the-dark dragon dance, lion dance, magic show, Portuguese folk dance, street dance, special dance and the local music band Tuna Macanese from Macao among different wonderful performances. Macao Tourism Mascot MAK MAK will show up to greet residents and visitors in Hangzhou.

For giveaways at the Macao Week in Hangzhou, spectators can access the H5 page with a scan of the QR code at the Tourist Information counters, acquire all the QR code stamps at different themed booths and follow Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO)’s WeChat ID (“MGTOweixin”), to redeem gifts at the tourist information counters.

Abundant special travel offers

Online and offline event promotion

During the event, pertinent integrated tourism enterprises and airline company will present a wealth of special travel offers on air tickets, hotel accommodation, dining and more, equivalent to over 90 million patacas. The special offers will be promoted and sold at the roadshow and on their platforms. The organizers will spotlight the Macao Week in Hangzhou via online and offline channels in the Mainland, including promotional campaigns by several travel KOLs on their online platforms.

The Macao SAR Government has launched the scheme “to expand visitor source, revive the economy and secure employment opportunities” since last September to promote special offers on air tickets, hotel accommodation and retail via e-commerce platforms. Promotion for travel and MICE trade

As the pandemic situation remains stable in the Mainland, MGTO and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) have jointly commenced a series of promotional activities for the travel and MICE trade in different cities across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Besides the seminars in Greater Bay Area cities, the two offices will also ride on this visit to organize a Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar in Hangzhou on 25 March to present the strengths of the tourism and MICE industries in both cities and facilitate networking among industry delegates from both sides to boost mutual visitations.

Highlighting Macanese cuisine

MGTO, Macanese Gastronomic Brotherhood and Grand Hyatt Hangzhou will together roll out a Macanese cuisine promotion from 26 March to 11 April to promote Macanese gastronomy in Hangzhou, a unique culinary culture and valuable Intangible Cultural Heritage from Macao, to showcase Macao’s glamour as a Creative City of Gastronomy.

During the Macao Week in Hangzhou, the units involved will rigorously follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines issued by Hangzhou’s public health authorities. Proper event arrangements will be implemented to support pandemic prevention while all participants must adhere to the arrangements for pandemic prevention.

The coordinators include Macao Government Tourism Office, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Administrative Committee of Hubin Pedestrian Street District of Hangzhou Municipality as well as Hangzhou Hubin Pedestrian Street Commercial Development Co., LTD. The supporting entities include Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Hangzhou Municipal Health Commission, Industrial Association of Macau, Macau Importers & Exporters Association, the Federal General Commercial Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises, Macanese Gastronomic Brotherhood and Grand Hyatt Hangzhou.
