Government to optimise its proposals on new e-voucher scheme

The Government will optimise its proposals regarding issuance of vouchers via locally-recognised electronic payment platforms. This is in order to achieve the policy goals of supporting employment, the local economy, and people’s livelihoods.

The Secretary for Economy and Finance and his team have met recently with representatives of community associations, in a bid to garner their opinions regarding the e-voucher proposal. The proposal was put forward under a 2021 scheme – announced on 15 March – aiming to support employment, stabilise the economy, and care for people’s livelihoods. The Government is aware that members of the public had varied views regarding the e-voucher proposal.

The 2021 scheme as a whole, takes as its reference point the new economic model in the country, including the boosting of the internal cycle, particularly in relation to spurring domestic demand. Targeted measures under the scheme have been formulated in line with actual needs in Macao, adapting to the foremost task for this year, i.e., boosting economic recovery. Last year’s priority had been to prevent stagnation of the economy.
