Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) yesterday (29 March 2021) opened the pre-qualification documents for the construction of Temporary Housing and Home Swap units on Lot P. A total number of 12 pre-qualification documents were received, comprising two independent companies and 10 joint ventures, with a total of 28 companies involved. Those documents were basically accepted, with eight of the applications requiring supplementary documents.
MUR will carry out advance works shortly, including hoarding installation and removal of unused facilities and debris off the site. The project consists of four main construction contracts, namely Lot A Construction of Home Swap Units, Lot B and Lot C Construction of Temporary Housing Units, of which Lot C is divided into two contracts C1 and C2.
MUR will evaluate qualification of the companies under a stringent process. Eligible companies will be invited to submit their bids in the next stage, and the contracts will be awarded to experienced and capable companies offering competitive prices. MUR will also employ third-party supervisory consultants and testing companies to ensure the quality of the construction works.
MUR will subsequently carry out the second stage of the tendering process, and will clearly specify in related tendering documents that bidders have to ensure to recruit local workers as a first priority, which will be one of the factors to consider in the evaluation process.
The opening of the prequalification documents took place yesterday on the 5th floor of the Macau Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building from 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m., in the presence of representatives from the companies applying for prequalification.
