Guests and members of the first tour groups before departure
The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project is open for applications starting from 15 April, featuring six local tour itineraries and hotel experience at the first stage. The project subsidizes interested permanent/nonpermanent Macao SAR residents to explore Macao, attracting many applicants so far. The first batch of local tour groups set off today (25 April).
Following the start of hotel staycations under the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project on 23 April, the first batch of 6 groups with around 230 participants also embarked upon local tours smoothly at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal at 9:00 this morning (25 April). Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Directors Cheng Wai Tong and Ricky Hoi joined the representatives of the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” Task Force to converse and take photos with tour group members before their departure. MGTO Director Senna Fernandes was delighted to hear about residents’ interest in the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project. She believes the local tours not only can familiarize residents with local tourism resources, but also will bolster the travel trade and stimulate spending in communities.
Explore Macao at a leisurely pace
Orchestrating a beautiful symphony of history and modernity, Macao is a dynamic city vibrant with different cultures in harmony. There is so much within the city’s profound uniqueness for residents to explore and relish at a leisurely pace. At the first stage (April – June), the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project offers six local tour itineraries featuring “tourism + culture” and “tourism + ecology” among different elements as follows: exploring architectures at Nossa Senhora Village of Ká Hó, science learning at Cotai Ecological Zone, Macao VR/Celebrity Wax Museum, Macao Grand Prix Museum and Handover Gifts Museum of Macao, youth music and cultural appreciation experience, as well as helicopter ride experience and yacht check-in tour. The especially popular helicopter ride experience and yacht check-in tour has attracted 15,552 local applicants. Up to yesterday (24 April), 2,209 residents have signed up for the other five itineraries while 1,569 hotel packages have been sold for around 3,936 residents to enjoy staycations.
Active participation of travel trade
By far, 160 travel agencies, over 800 travel industry professionals, 69 hotels and guest houses, 523 tour coaches (including barrier-free tour coaches), 523 tour coach drivers and 449 local tour guides have registered for the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project. MGTO is in charge of promoting and supervising the entire project, as well as arranging for on-site inspections conducted by inspectors and assessment of project effectiveness, among other tasks, to ensure appropriate use of public funds and prevent infringement of regulations.
The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project will run local tours between 25 April and 31 December.
