Exchange for the Rat and Ox Zodiac banknotes and the 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes commencing next Tuesday


The online registration process for the exchange of the Rat and Ox Zodiac banknotes and the 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes has already been completed successfully. Starting from next Tuesday (4 May), all participating banks will conduct the exchange with registrants for the mentioned banknotes.

After consolidating the registration data, it is confirmed that each registered Macao resident can exchange for 50 pieces of the Rat and of the Ox Zodiac banknotes and 5 pieces of the 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes of each Issuing Bank, totaling the exchange for 210 pieces of the mentioned banknotes with an exchange amount of MOP2,200.

As scheduled, the exchange period is between 4 May 2021 (Tuesday) and 23 July 2021 (Friday). All registrants should strictly adhere to the originally selected schedule, and bring along their valid ID card and exchange in person for the notes at the selected location during business hours. Alternatively, they can appoint an authorised representative to have the notes exchanged on the selected date and location, while the authorised representative will need to bring along their original ID card and submit the following documents:

1. Authorisation form (downloaded from AMCM’s website) signed by the registrant;

2. Registrant’s photocopy of ID card bearing his / her signature;

3. Representative’s photocopy of ID card bearing his / her signature.

The exchange for the Rat and Ox Zodiac banknotes and the 20th Anniversary of the Return to the Motherland of Macao banknotes of the two Issuing Banks is required to be conducted in one go, with no provision for separate exchange for any type of the notes.
