The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will lead a Government delegation to visit Shanghai from 3 to 6 June, for the first Shanghai-Macao Cooperation Conference and discuss with local officials on how to bolster bilateral ties.

Mr Ho and other members of the delegation will attend, in the evening of 3 June, the opening of “Macao Week in Shanghai”, and while in Shanghai also visit local industrial projects. The latter activities will be in order to gain better understanding of Shanghai’s latest developments.

Officials accompanying the Chief Executive to Shanghai will include: the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong; the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ms Ao Ieong U; the Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, Ms Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Director of the Sports Bureau, Mr Pun Weng Kun; the Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Mr Tai Kin Ip; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Monetary Authority of Macao, Mr Chan Sau San; the Rector of the University of Macau, Mr Song Yonghua; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ms Mok Ian Ian; the President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Mr Lau Wai Meng; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Ms Chan Lou; and the Director of the Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau, Mr Cheong Chok Man.

The Macao Special Administrative Region Government and the Shanghai Government signed in November 2019 an arrangement for establishing a Shanghai-Macao cooperation conference mechanism, covering financial services, the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry, and education and youth affairs. Such efforts help advance practical cooperation between Shanghai and Macao, and take it to a new level, while benefitting the two places’ economic and social development.
