“Macao Week in Shanghai – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” presents Macao’s signature delicacies

A kick-off dinner is held in advance today (2 June) for “Macao Week in Shanghai — Taste of Macao Food Promotion”

The “Macao Week in Shanghai” will be unveiled tomorrow (3 June) to promote Macao’s diverse dimensions of “tourism +” and raise the city’s profile as a heathy, safe and quality destination in Shanghai. Among the highlights, the gastronomic promotion entitled “Macao Week in Shanghai — Taste of Macao Food Promotion” will be held from 4 – 17 June to radiate Macao’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

A kick-off dinner was held in advance today (2 June) to unveil the “Macao Week in Shanghai — Taste of Macao Food Promotion” jointly organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Bellagioby MGMShanghaiand MGM Macau with the support of Macau Beer. Macao chef Lou Kam Meng conducted a culinary demonstration during the kick-off dinner.

The officiating guests include MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Lau Wai Meng; President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM, Hubert Wang; General Manager of Bellagioby MGMShanghai, Jenny Zhang, and Co-Chairman of Macau Beer Company Limited, Charles Choy.

The “Macao Week in Shanghai – Taste of Macao Food Promotion” will present signature buffets from Macao at Café Bellagio of the hotel Bellagioby MGMShanghai from 4 – 17 June. The menu is meticulously designed by Head Chefs Tiago Reis and Lou Kam Meng from MGM Macau. The former is a Portuguese while the latter is a local born and raised in Macao. Manifesting Macao’s glamour as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the menu comprises 12 signature Macanese and Portuguese delicacies.

Chef Lou will join travel KOLs for culinary presentation via interactive live broadcast in Shanghai on 4 June to introduce Macanese and Portuguese dishes. Leveraging the influence of the KOL and the live broadcast program to reach a broader spectrum of audience, the Food Promotion aspires to promote Macao’s unique delicacies and attract Mainland residents to Macao for first-hand travel experience and spending.

Following the designation of Macao as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in 2017, the SAR Government immediately unfolded the action plan to develop Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy with vigorous efforts. This year, Macao will submit the first work report to Secretariat of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

“Macao Week in Shanghai” roadshow opens on 3 June

The Macao Week in Shanghai will unfold a mega roadshow along Yuanmingyuan Road Pedestrian Street at Waitanyuan, Huangpu District in Shanghai from 3 – 7 June, with an opening ceremony to be held tomorrow (3 June). The mega roadshow will showcase Macao’s tourism, trade and commerce, culture, sports, entertainment and more dimensions through an array of booths themed as follows: overview about Macao and tourism events; Macao’s World Heritage, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Macao Good Shop; MAK MAK Shop; Macao’s sport events; trade, commerce and economy of Macao; as well as a showcase of Macao’s tourism industry presented by pertinent integrated tourism enterprises and airline company. A tourist information counter will be set up on site to provide Macao travel tips.
