The 12th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (hereinafter referred to as the “12th IIICF”), jointly organised by the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), will be held in Macao from 22 to 23 July mainly in offline mode supplemented by online activities. Leading political, business, and academic figures in the infrastructure sector from all parts of the world are invited to the 12th IIICF. The theme of this year’s forum is “Join Hands for New Development of International Infrastructure Co-operation”.
Expansion in scale: nearly 30% increase in the number of booths
A number of thematic and parallel forums will be held during this year’s IIICF, focusing on financial innovation and industrial chain co-operation, co-construction of the “Belt and Road”, carbon neutrality and the sustainable development of green infrastructure, among other hot topics. During the event, the 7th China-LAC Infrastructure Forum, organised by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, will also be held to facilitate the formation of a new pattern of sustainable development in China-Latin America infrastructure co-operation. Moreover, more supporting facilities will be provided during the 12th IIICF and the exhibition’s scale will be expanded. The number of booths is over 30% greater than in 2020, and the exhibitors are more diversified. Compared with the 11th IIICF, there is an over 10% growth in the number of participating infrastructure-related industries and industrial chain enterprises, and it is also the case with business meetings, so as to enhance the 12th IIICF’s business communication and matching functions.
Conferences and parallel forums featuring Macao elements
The 12th IIICF will also embody representative elements of Macao. This year’s IIICF will go in line with Macao’s implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and incorporate Macao elements in terms of agenda design, activity planning, guest invitations, and business matching, such as the construction of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, and modern finance. In addition, the Networking Reception of the Mainland China-Macao Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council will be held once again to actively respond to the “Belt and Road” Initiative, further strengthen the collaborative relationship between Mainland China and Macao enterprises, and support Macao enterprises in leveraging their advantages and integrating into the larger picture of national development.
A total of 14 business associations from the local construction and financial industries in Macao, together with relevant government departments, will serve as co-organisers to encourage the active participation of infrastructure-related industries in Macao, promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and deepen Macao’s role as the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. Officials from Mainland China, foreign officials in China, international financial institutions, multi-lateral development agencies, well-known engineering contractors, engineering equipment enterprises, and industrial chain enterprises are also invited to this grand event.
The organisers of the 12th IIICF will implement the anti-epidemic measures required by the Macao SAR Government. Those entering the venue must take temperature checks, present a certificate of a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result issued within the past seven days or a certificate of vaccination that proves the second dose was administered at least 14 days prior, use hand sanitiser, and wear face masks.
Since relocating from Beijing to Macao in 2012, the IIICF has been staged in Macao for nine consecutive years. Last year, the 11th IIICF effectively organised a number of thematic forums, specialactivities and parallel forums, and conducted more than 170 business negotiations, attracting over 1,000 participants of all circles from 42 countries and regions, including envoys from 32 countries to China. A total of twelve co-operation agreements were signed between Chinese and foreign parties in various fields including road transport, residential building construction, photovoltaic power stations, and wind electricity.
