Macao Polytechnic Institute launched e-platform for Portuguese language teaching resources to facilitate Portuguese learning

In order to further advance Macao as the “Sino-Portuguese Platform” and the “Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Talent Training Base”, to promote Portuguese language and related scientific research results in Macao to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Portuguese-speaking countries of the Belt and Road Initiative, and to facilitate the sharing of electronic resources in Portuguese language teaching and research, the Centre for Portuguese Studies of Macao Polytechnic Institute launched the Portuguese textbook Global Portuguese and the academic journal Orientes do Português online last year. These have been widely welcomed by Portuguese language learners. The Centre continues to promote the digitalization of Portuguese language teaching materials and has launched an online platform for Portuguese language e-textbooks and Sino-Portuguese academic monographs (https://cpclp.ipm.edu.mo/). Interested parties are welcome to read and download them for free.

Zhang Yunfeng, director of the Centre for Portuguese Studies of Macao Polytechnic Institute, stated that the Centre is committed to promoting Portuguese language and culture, and continuously deepening the research of Portuguese language and related fields. It publishes Portuguese language teaching materials and academic monographs covering Portuguese language teaching, linguistics, literature, culture, history and so forth. In order to advance the promotion of Portuguese language teaching and research resources, the Centre has reorganized all the publications and has published some digitalized revisions. Currently, more than 30 Portuguese textbooks and academic publications have been launched on the e-platform, of which 15 e-books are available for free download, and more e-publications will be launched later. Zhang Yunfeng introduced the e-platform for Portuguese teaching resources which are rich in content and divided into three categories: teaching materials, journals and essay collections, and books and reference. The teaching materials include the Global Portuguese series of textbooks as well as various teaching materials written for Chinese learners covering writing, vocabulary, phonetics, literature, and so on. The journals and essay collections include the Portuguese International Journal Orientes do Português, which is co-founded by Macao Polytechnic Institute and the University of Porto in Portugal, academic papers from the “International Forum of Portuguese Language Teaching and Research in China” and other international academic conferences organized by the Centre. The books and reference section covers the Blue Book - Report on the Development of Portuguese Teaching in Higher Institutions in China, as well as many academic monographs and reference books in the fields of Portuguese literature, foreign language teaching and phonetics.

Digitalization of teaching resources will provide readers a quick and convenient learning platform without geographic boundary. In the future, the Centre for Portuguese Studies of Macao Polytechnic Institute will produce academic publications in both paper and electronic formats, but focusing on electronic academic publications to reduce the number of printed publications. Furthermore, the Portuguese language teaching resources e-platform will continue to launch more e-teaching and e-learning materials. Interested parties are welcome to follow and visit the e-platform.
