Macau New Neighbourhood project’s two training bases set up in Hengqin
Two training bases, organised by China ConstructionEngineering (Macau) Company Limited and co-organised by Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) project in Hengqin were officially established yesterday (19 August).
The establishment of the “Constructional Practicum Base for University Students in Macau” and “Training Base for Pre-fabricated Construction” is to nurture Macau’s university students and graduates majored in construction to help them participate and learn about the standard of the construction industry in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The bases will also provide practicum, training and employment opportunities to nurture talents for the development of prefabricated construction industry in Macau.
A plaque unveiling ceremony of the two training bases was held at MNN project in Hengqin yesterday afternoon.
The construction of MNN project was fully underway in early 2021. It is the first livelihood project developed for Macau residents that integrates quality living space, education, health and social services, as part of promoting and implementing the development of the Guangdong-Macau in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin. The MNN project’s residential units will adopt the pre-fabricated construction method that is also environmentally friendly. The project will have about 4,000 residential units for sale and over 200 housing for talents.
The two bases are for the training of talents for the local construction industry. The “Practicum Base for Macau’s University Students majored in Construction” is for Macau students in tertiary education to receive quality practicum opportunities. For their personal development, career path and skills training, the practicum will provide multi-faceted learning programmes to assist students in putting theory into practice, accumulate work experience and enhance their employability.
The “Training Base for Pre-fabricated Construction” is to advance the training cooperation between pre-fabricated construction enterprises and Macau construction industry professionals. Through teaching, scientific research and application, the base’s function as a place for demonstration and its radiating effect will be brought into full play. In addition, the base will contribute to nurturing talents in pre-fabricated construction, upgrading Macau’s construction enterprises with new skills and knowledge.
Future construction projects in Macau will head towards pre-fabrication practice. During the construction period of MNN, fact-finding trips will be organised for people in the local construction industry to understand theprocessand details ofpre-fabrication, such as the constructionprocurement, design approaches, and the adoption of various pre-fabricated components, with the aim of providing training courses for the local construction industry.
The MNN project is now in full swing. Its pile foundation is expected to be finished within this year. The construction of the basement, main body, fitted-out residential units, roads, and greening facilities will be gradually carried out. The whole project is expected to be completed in 2023.
