Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) was temporarily closed since 3 August. After thorough cleaning and disinfection and consultation with the Health Bureau, the library will reopen to the public from 23 August, with opening hours from 2pm to 8pm on Mondays, and from 8am to 8pm from Tuesdays to Sundays.
During its closure, the Municipal Affairs Bureau has hireda professional company to thoroughly clean and disinfect the library, while the Health Bureau has also arranged for the staff working in the library to undergo nucleic acid tests. Furthermore, IC will once again carry out comprehensive cleaning and disinfection work before the library reopens, in order to create a safe and healthy environment for the users.
IC will closely monitor the development of the pandemic and follow the relevant guidelines of the Health Bureau. Crowd control measures will be implemented at the library, with visitor capacity limited to 50% of the pre-pandemic level. The public entering the library is advised to co-operate with the crowd control measures and all must wear their own masks, undergo body temperature checks, and present their health codes of the day upon entry. IC would like to express its thanks to the members of the public for their understanding and co-operation.
