Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu was grandly unveiled yesterday (24 September)
The “Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu” was grandly unveiled yesterday (24 September) to present a mega roadshow at Jiaozi Plaza, Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Chengdu until 27 September, to promote Macao’s diverse elements of tourism and commerce, showcase the rich diversity of “tourism +” and raise Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and glamorous destination.
Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ho Iat Seng, officiated the opening ceremony of the Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu. Other officiating guests include: Deputy Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Governor of Sichuan Province, Huang Qiang; Deputy Director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Huang Liuquan; Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, Lei Wai Nong; member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of CPC and Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Li Yunze; Chairman of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Yan; Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the LiaisonOffice of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Chen Guokai; Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; Secretary General of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, Hu Yun; Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province, Cui Zhiwei; Executive Member of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), Vincent U, and member of the Standing Committee of Chengdu Municipal Committee of CPC and Vice Mayor of Chengdu, Cheng Wei.
Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, Lei Wai Nong, remarked that the Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu is jointly presented by Sichuan and Macao, engaging various governmental entities, enterprises, commerce associations, performance groups and so forth to bring Macao’s “tourism +” to Chengdu. The event manifests the diversity of tourism elements Macao has to offer through the mega roadshow, and fosters cooperation among related industry operators from both sides through the Tourism and MICE Presentation Seminar and Trade Networking Session, among other highlights.
Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Committee of CPC and Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Li Yunze, expressed in his remarks that Sichuan and Macao maintain a long-term close relationship. In the wake of the earthquake in Wenchuan on 12 May 2008, the Macao SAR Government and people of Macao have extended benevolence and generous help across miles, fully manifesting the great spirit of the Chinese nation in supporting each other through adversity. In November 2018, Sichuan and Macao established the mechanism of Sichuan-Macao Cooperation Conference officially to unveil a new chapter for exchange and cooperation. The two places have attained significant results of exchange and cooperation in the fields of tourism, MICE, culture, finance, Chinese medicine, technology, professional services, commerce and trade, education and health, etc.
Chairman of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Yan, stated in his remarks that Chengdu and Macao have nurtured deep friendship in close cooperation. Chengdu has for years participated in international exhibitions including the Macao International Trade & Investment Fair, and for many times invited the concerted entities from Macao to organize commerce and trade events such as the Portuguese-speaking Countries Product Promotion and Business Matching Sessionsin Chengdu. Through these occasions of exchange, the two cities kept expanding their scope of cooperation. He believes that the Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu, uniquely imbued with the Portuguese and Macanese aroma, will draw lots of Chengdu residents to join. Chengdu will capitalize on the reinstatement of travel permit issuance for Mainland residents to Macao and tap into pragmatic cooperation with Macao in different fields in the post-pandemic era.
The Macao Week in Sichuan•Chengdu is staging the mega roadshow at Jiaozi Plaza, Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Chengdu from yesterday until 27 September, to promote Macao’s diverse elements of tourism and commerce, showcase the rich diversity of “tourism +” and raise Macao’s profile as a healthy, safe and glamorous destination. Involving various governmental entities from Macao as well as the support of different enterprises and commerce associations, the mega roadshow series of “Macao Weeks” have been held with great success in Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing (in Jiangsu) as well as Shanghai successively since last year.
