Encourage teachers and students to take COVID-19 vaccines asap for health’s sake

Schools are the main places for learning and cluster activities for students. Taking into account the current dynamic development of the epidemic, and to ensure campus safety and the health of teachers and students, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (the “DSEDJ”) strongly urges school staff and students of tertiary education institutions and teaching staff of non-tertiary education schools to make use of the National Day holidays or the following days to take the vaccines proactively. Currently, there is no need to make appointments to take the vaccines at the vaccination sites. Teaching staff and students can directly go to the vaccination sites in Macao for vaccination. Please visit the following website to learn about the waiting situation of each vaccination site: https://eservice.ssm.gov.mo/covidvacbook/Booking/Waitingstatus?lang=en. In addition, the DSEDJ, together with the Health Bureau, will continue to carry out collective vaccination work at schools as planned.

With reference to the“Guideline on COVID-19 Vaccination and Nucleic Acid Testing for Staff” issued by the Health Bureau on September 13, and after having communicated with the education sector, the DSEDJ will request, from October 25 onwards, teaching staff and students of tertiary education institutions and teaching staff of non-tertiary education to present the evidence of them having injected at least the first dose of the vaccine or present a negative nucleic acid test result which has been sampled within 7 days before entering the school.

The specific date arrangements for the resumption of face-to-face classes in tertiary education institutions and resumption of classes in non- tertiary education schools are still under discussion. Plans, if confirmed, will be announced as soon as possible.
