Severe tropical storm Kompasu will continue to intensify in the next two days. It will move across the northern part of the South China Sea, and come closest to Macao between midnight and morning on 13th, at a distance of around 400km south to Macao. It will move in the general direction to the Hainan. As Kompasu will edge closer and accompany by the northeast monsoon, winds in Macao will further intensify on Tue. The weather will become unsettled between Tue night and Wed. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected and the maximum wind may reach wind force level 8, with gusts. Meanwhile, under the joint effect of storm surge and high astronomical tide, flooding is expected in low-lying areas at midnight on Wed. The flooding level will be below 0.5m. The public are advised to pay close attention to the latest weather information and take precautions against strong winds and flooding.
