Visitor arrivals gradually rebound in Macao as pandemic situation stabilizes Single-day visitor arrivals topped 25,252 yesterday (22 October)

As the pandemic situation becomes stable in Macao in recent days and the pandemic control and prevention measures have been loosened at the ports of entry between Zhuhai and Macao, the figures indicate a steady rebound in visitor arrivals, which have been trending upward for four days in a row.Macao registered 25,252 visitor arrivals yesterday (22 October), a new highest record since the city entered the state of immediate prevention and tightened its measures against COVID-19 on 25 September.

From 0:00 on 25 September, the Macao SAR entered the state of immediate prevention, which was later terminated at 12:00 noon on 15 October. During this period, the average daily volume of visitor arrivals stood at about 1,000. Once the pandemic control and prevention measures at the ports of entry between Zhuhai and Macao were loosened from 12:00 noon on 19 October, the number of visitors immediately rebounded to nearly 14,000 in a single day. Single-day visitor arrivals even exceeded 20,000 on 20 October and stayed above the level afterwards. The city recorded 25,252 visitor arrivals yesterday (22 October).

As the pandemic situation in Macao moves towards stability, in parallel with the latest adjustment to the pandemic control and prevention measures implemented at the ports of entry between Zhuhai and Macao, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) dedicates strong efforts to promote the destination, including leveraging various social media such as WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, and through the endeavors of Macao’s KOLs on their platforms, to spotlight Macao as a safe and quality destination among Mainland residents and welcome visitors to experience the city.

More mega events and community activities will be coming up In November and December, such as the Macao Light Festival and theLight up Macao Drone Gala, both organized by MGTO in December to attract more visitors for travel and spending in order to spur economic revival in local communities.
