Traditional Music and Dance Performance in the Community in Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, showcases the charm of Chinese and Portuguese cultures and arts

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Traditional Music and Dance Performance in the Community, featured in the programme of the 3rd “Encounter in Macao - Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, will be held on 6 and 7 November (Saturday and Sunday), featuring a total of 8 performances to be presented at 2pm at Largo Eduardo Marques, Coloane, at 3:30pm at Barra Square, at 5pm at Ruins of St. Paul’s, and at 6:30pm in Iao Hon Market Park. The Dance and Singing Group of Fujian Province, originally scheduled to participate in the performance, was unable to visit Macao due to the epidemic prevention and control measures in Mainland China. Local performance groups will continue to present performances to the public and all are welcome to experience the charm of performing arts from Portuguese-speaking countries and feel the festive atmosphere.

The Traditional Music and Dance Performance in the Community will be presented by a total of 6 groups from Macao, allowing residents to experience the passionate and festive Portuguese traditional song and dance performances in the community. The Associação de Danças e Cantares Portuguesa “Macau no Coração”, aims to promote the Portuguese traditional folk dance culture, and will show the audience the dance style and charm of Portuguese traditional folk dance; the Grupo de Danças e Cantares de Macau, dressed in traditional Portuguese costumes, will offer folk dance performances through singing and musical instruments; tertiary students from Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe who are studying in Macao have formed the bands of Pérolas do Índico and SantoPrince to present dynamic and rhythmic dances and songs from their countries. Capoeira, is a kind of sport that combines elements of dance, music and martial arts. The Axé Capoeira Group from Master Eddy Murphy will offer performances with rhythm and power to the audience; the Brazil Dance Group will perform samba, bringing the lively Brazilian carnival culture to the local community.

There will be an audience area located in the events’ venues with free admission. All visitors must comply with the crowd control measures on site. The Cultural Affairs Bureau will strictly follow the relevant anti-epidemic guidelines of the Health Bureau and implement appropriate measures for cultural activities. All visitors must wear face masks, undergo body temperature checks, present a valid “Macao Health Code” of the day upon entry to the audience area, and comply with the epidemic control measures and crowd control measures on site.
