IPIM Facilitates Over 1,000 Business Matching Sessions in CIIE to Help Macao Enterprises Expand their Market

Food and beverage tasting arranged by IPIM in the pavilion for exhibitors to promote their products

The 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was successfully concluded on 10 November after running for six consecutive days. Fruitful results were achieved during the event by the 46 Macao exhibitors organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). In the two pavilions set up by IPIM, over 1,000 business matching sessions were conducted, covering many industries such as food trade, hotel, catering and e-commerce, and throughout the event 12 preliminary memoranda of co-operation were signed.

Translation professionals “go global” through CIIE

A translation service provider and first-time exhibitor at CIIE mentioned that during the event he had met three to four companies during business matching and discussed with a large mainland enterprise on providing translation services for their business expansion in Europe. He also noted that the event had given him an opportunity to exchange information with representatives from different industries around the world and broadened his horizons.

New products are well received at CIIE

The representative of a coffee roaster company who participated in CIIE for the third time remarked that their newly launched drip-bag coffee were well-received this year. During the event, they met three or four Shanghai and Anhui enterprises which operate supermarkets, e-commerce platforms and other businesses, and the outcome met their expectations. Moreover, they were also benefited by the high amount of footfall thanks to the food and beverage tasting and other activities held at the pavilion.

Remarkable results yielded in CIIE business matching sessions

An agent of food products from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) who joined CIIE for the fourth consecutive year said the event allowed them to do more than just promote their products. With MICE services being part of their business, they have a certain demand for human resources in the course of business expansion and, thanks to IPIM’s liaison efforts, they joined the business matching sessions in the event and successfully reached preliminary co-operation in these two areas of business.

PSC products gain a wider reach in mainland market

Another PSC food product agent, who has been a registered user of the Economic & Trade Co-operation and Human Resources Portal between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries and joined CIIE for the fourth consecutive year, expressed his surprise at seeing many trade visitors in the event this year, which is also the year that he has achieved the most fruitful results by making initial contact with over 30 enterprises from the northeast part of China, Henan and other provinces. He also commended the arrangement of the portal users’ introduction during the food and beverage tasting in the pavilion, which allowed them to interact with and introduce their products to visitors with a more targeted approach. The QR codes added by the organiser in front of their products also allowed visitors to easily learn about the products’ details.
