The “2021 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” (2021GMBPF) will be held at The Venetian Macao from 26 to 28 November. The three-day GMBPF will continue to integrate trade, cultural exchanges, shopping, leisure, and entertainment, and will enhance business matching to provide a business and trade exchange and co-operation platform for trade visitors. The online business matching services will start from 15 November to provide 14 days of service for exhibitors and buyers to establish business contacts online. Some exhibiting enterprises agree that the GMBPF Guided Tour organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) last year helped enterprises reach new customers and navigate through the epidemic.
Ms Wong, representative of a bird’s nest specialty store that has participated in the GMBPF for three consecutive years, said that through joining the GMBPF Guided Tour last year, her company successfully landed an RMB 1 million order with a mainland company selling dried tangerine tea. The products have been well received by Macao customers and will be repackaged within this year and sold in high-end hotels and duty-free areas in Macao. Ms Wong thinks that though the COVID-19 epidemic hit the physical stores very hard last year, exhibiting in the GMBPF did have a very good effect on the promotion of their brand, and many people got to know the brand through the Fair, which effectively boosted the subsequent turnover by about 20%.
Mr Huang, representative of a dairy product company participated in the Fair for the first time last year, noted that the GMBPF provides a convenient platform for mainland enterprises to expand into the Macao market, and has effectively introduced their brand to the Macao citizens, with their products now available in Macao supermarkets.
Mr O, representative of a Macao cultural and creative company, believes that organising the Fair amid the epidemic will help boost the industry’s confidence. Last year, he participated in the GMBPF Guided Tour and met a pastry company, with which his company successfully reached an agreement on the collaborative development of new products. The two companies are working together on the project, which is expected to be put into production in the second half of this year. His company will participate in this year’s GMBPF again to promote local cultural and creative products and seek more opportunities for collaboration.
The 2021GMBPF is jointly hosted by the IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province. Admission to the 2021GMBPF is free.
