The “Guia Fortress” and the “Mandarin’s House”, two World Heritage sites under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will offer online virtual tours from 22 November. The public can enjoy a 360-degree “cloud tour” of these Macao World Heritage sites by scanning a specific QR code and logging into the Macao World Heritage website or the Macao Cultural Heritage website via computers or mobile devices.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau continues to promote the use of digital cultural heritage resources, now presenting the pilot-project for enabling online virtual tours of the “Guia Fortress” and the “Mandarin’s House”(IE browser does not support this function), which are part of the Historic Centre of Macao. The public can enjoy the function “cloud tour” of the World Heritage sites simply by scanning a specific QR code, or visiting the “Guia Fortress” and “Mandarin’s House” pages that are available on the Macao World Heritage website ( www.wh.mo/en ) or the Macao Cultural Heritage website ( www.culturalheritage.mo/en/ ) via computers or mobile devices. Guided tours are available in Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese and English.
The virtual tours of the World Heritage sites allow the public to experience two different types of mediums, namely the “Interactive Scenic Area” and the “Interactive Exhibits” online, which can be navigated through the two mentioned World Heritage sites, at each of the participants’ own pace by clicking on the mouse or tapping the screen to have a 360-degree panoramic view of the Guia Fortress or the Mandarin’s House (the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows inside the Guia Fortress can be viewed in even further detail) Visitors may browse through architectural details and high-definition photos of the exhibits, as well as listen to audio tours and read the respective written explanations, to fully enjoy the World Heritage of Macao by clicking on parts of the building and the location of the displays.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau will continue to actively promote the integration of cultural heritage resources with technology, also continuing to investigate the addition of online navigation functions for other World Heritage sites, in order to enhance the cultural promotion and educational content of the World Heritage of Macao, and provide residents and tourists a richer, more diverse and interesting cultural experience.
