The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, officiated at the launch of the 4K-definition documentary "Crunch and Munch in Macao," which has China Media Group as a co-producer, and celebrates the 22nd anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland.
The launch ceremony was held on Wednesday (24 November) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Also officiating at the ceremony was Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President and Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group, Mr Shen Haixiong.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Mr Ho said Macao was positioned as a multiple-culture exchange and cooperation base, with an emphasis on Chinese culture, under the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The city’s integration of Chinese culture with Western cultures was one of its unique advantages.
The Chief Executive said that with the help of China Media Group, a world-class media outlet, a greater amount of Macao’s vibrant elements, stories, and culture would be promoted worldwide. Macao was a safe city and a quality tourism destination. All were welcome to visit Macao and experience the unique charms of its cultural diversity, Mr Ho added.
During the ceremony, Mr Shen said the "Crunch and Munch in Macao"project was another step to realise the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important remarks delivered at the ceremony held to celebrate the Macao Special Administrative Region’s (MSAR’s) 20th anniversary. The project helped not only to expand China Media Group’s ties with the MSAR, but also enriched media cooperation under the “One country, two systems” principle.
China Media Group would work closely with the MSAR Government, in order to tell Macao stories in the new era, spread Macao’s successful practice of the “One country, two systems” principle, and promote Macao’s integration into overall national development, Mr Shen added.
In addition, during Wednesday’s ceremony, an agreement was signed regarding China Media Group authorising Teledifusão de Macau (TDM) to broadcast "Crunch and Munch in Macao" and to publish audio products, books, and cultural and creative products.
"Crunch and Munch in Macao" will debuton China Central Television (CCTV) on December 20, and will be broadcast overseas via China Global Television Network (CGTN). The documentary features Macao’s food culture as the starting point for demonstrating the MSAR’s achievements in the past 22 years since its return to the motherland, namely in terms of the city’s rapid economic growth, enhancements in community welfare, social harmony and stability, and the co-existence of diverse cultures.
