The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) co-hosted the third International Human Resource Management (HRM) Conference with the School of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon. The conference provided a platform for scholars, researchers, business practitioners, and postgraduate students to share their latest research findings and business insights related to sustainable development and human resource management.
As part of the activities in celebration of UM’s 40th anniversary, the conference focused on the contribution of human resource management to sustainable development and attracted scholars and experts from Macao, Hong Kong, mainland China, and Portugal. FBA Dean Jean Chen delivered a welcome speech, which was followed by keynote speeches by Prof Wang Jie of the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China, and Prof Liang Jian of Tongji University. Prof Wang and Prof Jiang discussed sustainable practices in human resource management and the challenges in conducting employee voice research, respectively.
In addition, two prominent local executives, Keith Lei at MGM Cotai and Jacinta Ho at JC Human Resource Consulting, shared MGM’s sustainable HR practices and a case study in environmental stewardship strategy conducted by a local company.
