IFTM holds Career Day Dozens of organisations offer job opportunities for IFTM graduating students

Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held 2022 Career Day on 3 March at IFTM Taipa Campus. 67 organisations (including 11 from Guangdong and Shanghai) from various sectors joined and exhibited at the event, providing employment opportunities and information, as well as the latest development of the sectors for IFTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform between students and employers, allowing students to know more about the current job market and maximising their chance of successful job application.

During the event, participating organisations from Macao and the Mainland (including the Greater Bay Area) exhibited more than 1,300 job vacancies for IFTM graduating students. Representatives from the participating organisations introduced career prospects and positions available in their companies as well as arranging on-site interviews for graduating students and participants. The graduating students and participants were enthusiastic about the event. Questions regarding employment trends and employers’ expectation were raised and discussed in the fair.

According to the Career Placement Survey for 2020/2021 graduates which conducted in November 2021, the overall response rate of Master’s graduates is 100%. Master’s graduate respondents who had full-time employment accounted for 83.3% and their monthly median salary is MOP19,000; For Bachelor’s graduates, the overall response rate was 74.9%. 13.2 % of Bachelor’s graduate respondents pursued higher level of education since graduation from IFTM, 64.2% of them got employment and 5.5% of them were working and studying simultaneously. 58.7% of them were employed in Tourism and Hospitality sector, while Services sector accounted for 14.5%. The monthly median salary of local graduate respondents in full-time employment is MOP14,600. 84% of the employed Bachelor’s graduate respondents were hired within three months after graduation and 27.5% of them secured their job before graduation.

On the day of the event, “Seminar on Career Development in GBA”, “Seminar on Career Prospects in GBA” and “Seminar on Prospects of Macao Tourism Industry” were held. The first two seminars were organised by "the Alliance for Developing Macao into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Tourism Education and Training Base", and invited Feng Fangdan, Acting Deputy Director of the Civil Affairs Bureau ofGuangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, to introduce measures on encouraging Macao youths in Macao for employment or internship opportunities in the Zone. While Guo Mei, deputy director of Hengqin Development & Entrepreneurship Valley shared the start-up and Investment Policies of the Entrepreneurship Valley for Macao young entrepreneurs to start their business or to work in Hengqin. Nidus (International) Group Limited. Gloria, Founder of the company shared the entrepreneurial experience and career planning. Pachira (International) Technology Limited. Jason, CEO of the company introduced the new ecology of AI-enabled enterprises, Alibaba Cloud introduces Alibaba Cloud Macau and its employment and internship information, and last but not least Lingnan Business Travel Group introduced the job and welfare information, and recruitment channels of Guangzhou Garden Hotel, Nansha Garden Hotel and China Hotel via promotional videos. The “Seminar on Prospects of Macao Tourism Industry” invited guest speakers from the GBA Government officials, industries, alumni of IFTM and a representative of the Macao Hotel Association to share their insight.
