Typhoon Signal No.8 This evening Medium to relatively high

Tropical cyclone "Nalgae" will edge closer to Macao within 100 km between the evening today (2nd) and the beginning of tomorrow (3rd). However, under the influence of the northeast monsoon, the strength of "Nalgae" is gradually weakening, and the radius of gale wind is reducing. The possibility of issuing Typhoon Signal No.8 in this evening remains “medium to relatively high” because the forecast track and the degree of weakening still remain uncertain.

Under the combined effect of “Nalgae” and the northeast monsoon, it is expected that the local winds will increase generally to a wind level scale of 6-7 this afternoon, and will occasionally reach 8, with gusts, tonight. The showers will become stronger. It is expected to be cloudy in the next few days with frequent showers and cooler.

For the Storm Surge, due to“Nalgae” will be closest to Macao from tonight to the early morning of tomorrow (3rd), with the combination of the astronomical high tide, there also will be a flood in the inner harbor area then. The public is advised to take appropriate precautions and pay attention to the latest information on the tropical cyclone.

Remarks: The probabilities of issuing severe weather warning signals for the next one or two days are provided in the table.
