QTSAS calls for applications from catering businesses and travel agencies from 16 March

QTSAS welcomes applications from catering businesses and travel agencies from 16 March

The Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (“QTSAS” or “the Scheme”) calls for applications from the catering and travel agency sectors from 16 to 31 March. Businesses can log in and submit applications on Macao Tourism Industry Net.

Commend outstanding businesses to promote quality tourism services

As the pandemic situation has stabilized in Macao recently, social and economic activities are gradually regaining their momentum. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) thus resumes its call for QTSAS applications from catering businesses and travel agencies. Merchants are welcome to join once again. By recognizing tourism and related businesses for their outstanding services and excellent service management, the Scheme encourages and supports the trade to enhance their service quality.

Quotas on participating catering businesses and travel agencies

The Scheme has set the quotas on participants as 100 catering businesses and 30 travel agencies this year. Interested merchants can submit applications on Macao Tourism Industry Net ( https://industry.macaotourism.gov.mo ) between 16 and 31 March. For enquiries, please call: 83971225 or 83971522.

Eligibility for application and acceptance

Having run their business in Macao for one year or above, eligible restaurants and eateries licensed under designated categories as well as eligible main/branch offices of licensed travel agencies in Macao, which submit required documents within the application period and fulfill the application criteria, will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accolades for both sectors

MGTO is dedicated to raising service quality of the tourism and related industries. In 2014, the Office launched QTSAS. The Scheme of this year will present accolades including “Quality Tourism Services Merchant Award”, “Quality Tourism Services Gold Award”, “Quality Tourism Services Excellence Award” and “Special Theme Award” (including Sustainable Dining Award, Community Care Services Award, Local Feature Award and Operational Innovation Award) for the catering sector, whereas the “Quality Tourism Services Merchant Award” will be presented to qualified travel agencies. Participating merchants will go through "Mystery Shopping Assessment" and "Service Management System Audit". Upon passing the assessment, merchants will receive their accreditation certificate, window sticker and badges, for display at the establishment. Please visit Macao Tourism Industry Net for details of the eligibility for application, assessment criteria and accredited merchants.

Arrangement for currently-accredited merchants in both sectors

Currently-accredited catering businesses can choose whether to compete for awards again or to undergo the assessment for the supervision period to maintain their accredited status. If they choose to compete for awards again, they have to submit new applications to contend for the accolades with other new participants.

Currently-accredited travel agencies are not required to apply again. They can keep their accreditation if they fulfill the criteria.

The Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme is organized by Macao Government Tourism Office with the kind support of Municipal Affairs Bureau, Consumer Council, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Macau Hotel Association, United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao, Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises of Catering, Association of Macao Tourist Agents, Macao Travel Agency Association and Travel Industry Council of Macau. MGTO will carry on QTSAS while supporting and assisting industry operators to organize training activities. The endeavors aim to raise the service quality in the tourism and related industries and promote quality tourism services, in parallel with Macao’s vision to become a world centre of tourism and leisure.
