[Expand Business Opportunities Together] IPIM will accept applications from Macao enterprises to participate in the 6th CIIE from today (27)

Macao enterprises explore business opportunities through the “China International Import Expo”

In order to help local enterprises to seize development opportunities and “go global” to open up business markets, and further foster the moderate diversification of Macao’s economy, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will accept applications from Macao enterprises to participate in the “6th China International Import Expo” (CIIE) from 27 March to 11 April.

“CIIE” is a national-level expo with the theme of imports. The 6th CIIE will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Shanghai) from 5 to 10 November. IPIM will set up exhibition space in the “Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition Area” and “Service Trade Exhibition Area” of the 6th CIIE to organise for local enterprises engaged in creating “Made in Macao” food and beverages, serving as agents for Portuguese-speaking countries’ food and beverages, and engaged in professional services (translation, law, accounting) for the Portuguese-speaking market to participate in the Expo.

Enterprises may register for participation from now

Exhibitors must be registered corporative enterprises in Macao, and their exhibits must be manufactured and produced in Macao, or they must serve as agents for food and beverage products from Portuguese-speaking countries, or engage in professional services for the Portuguese-speaking market. Enterprises interested in participating in the Expo may register through IPIM’s online application system for event projects (https://macaomice.ipim.gov.mo). In addition, in order to deepen Macao enterprises’ understanding and enable them to grasp the highlights and development opportunities of the Expo, the China International Import Expo Bureau (CIIEB), the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Shanghai), the Trade Division of the Department of Economic Affairs under the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR and IPIM co-hosted the “6th Promotion Conference of the China International Import Expo (Macao)” on March 10, in which nearly 100 representatives of Macao enterprises participated.

Looking back at the 5th CIIE, more than 2,800 enterprises from 127 countries and regions participated in the Expo of which 284 are Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders. The exhibition area of the Expo was 366,000 square metres, displaying 438 new products, new technologies and new services, and the transaction amount reached US$73.52 billion.

Last year was the fifth consecutive year that had IPIM organised Macao enterprises to participate in the Expo, and set up exhibition spaces in the “Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition Area” and “Service Trade Exhibition Area”. The total exhibition areas were 660 square metres, and a total of 35 Macao enterprises participated in the Expo. Over 1,000 business matchmaking sessions were held on-site, and two Macao enterprises even successfully signed letters of intent worth over a million US dollars for the procurement of alcohol products at the Expo.

In addition, IPIM also organised for an economic and trade delegation from Macao of more than 50 people to participate in the Expo. Furthermore, IPIM and the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) co-hosted events such as the ‘Themed Forum and Co-operation Business Matching Meeting of “Macao as Platform – Connecting China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”’ to discuss the development of the China- Portuguese-speaking Countries platform.
