Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) successfully held its hybrid 2023 Information Day on 22 April. Through a series of programmes and studies consultation booths, academic research experiences, sharing sessions, thematic exhibitions, and performances by students from Portuguese-speaking countries, it showcased MPU’s characteristics, programme information, as well as the latest research results to the community. Prospective secondary school graduates, secondary school students, their parents and the public were attracted to participate, and the response has been enthusiastic.
The opening ceremony was officiated at the Auditorium of MPU at 10 am on 22 April by the Rector of Macao Polytechnic University, Professor Im Sio Kei; Deputy-Director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the CPG in Macao, Mr. Shi Shuzheng; Acting Head of the Division of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macao SAR Government, Ms. Chan Mei Kei; Principals and representatives of more than 20 secondary schools in Macao; President of the MPU Students’ Union, Mr. U Ion Leong; and Vice-President of the MPU Alumni Association, Mr. Chau Hong Cheng.
In his welcoming speech,Professor Im Sio Kei stated that MPU, in line with the positioning and development of “One Centre, One Platform, and One Base” in Macao and the moderately diversified development of “1+4” industries, has launched degree programmes at various levels with a comprehensive and excellent school-running model. By cooperating with many world-renowned universities and local and overseas professional institutions, MPU creates an internationally interconnected cross-border learning and exchange platform for students, promotes international cooperation in industry, education, and research, and helps in Macao's moderately diversified economic development. In the new academic year of 2023/2024, MPU will continue to cooperate with the “Second Five-Year Plan” of the Macao SAR government and launch new courses in the fields of general health, modern finance, high technology, exhibition and trade, as well as culture and sports, to meet the needs of emerging industries for talents. He thanked the Macao SAR government and people from all walks of life for their support of MPU. He hoped that through the event today, the community would have a comprehensive understanding of the university and its programme features that emphasise both teaching and research.
During the Information Day, MPU held a series of activities for students, parents and the public, including programme and consultation booths; sharing sessions of teachers, students and alumni; information technology innovation experiences; nursing procedures and demonstrations; physical fitness tests; simultaneous interpretation; music performances; arts and creativity workshops; student work exhibitions; career planning; and academic and research experiences camp, allowing the secondary school students to explore the major subject areas of MPU and experience being a university student for a day. Participating students and parents said that the content of the Information Day was rich, showing the characteristics of MPU’s vitality and pursuit of innovation. Through participating in relevant activities, they could understand MPU's achievements and the latest scientific research developments, and could experience a wonderful and diverse campus life.

The degree programmes of MPU mainly cover information technology, health sciences and sports, languages and translation, arts and creativity, public administration and services, business and management.
