Possible warning signals to be issued due to the impact on "Talim"

Severe tropical storm "Talim" is located about 260 kilometers south of Macao and is expected to move west-northwest, towards the west coast of Guangdong. According to the current forecast track, "Talim" will be closest to Macao between dawn and the morning today, skirting about 200 kilometers south of Macao. Since "Talim" is expected to intensify, the associated zone of gale wind will cover the Pearl River Delta area for some time, and occasional Force-7 Winds are recorded on the sea crossing bridges currently. As a result, the SMG will issue tropical cyclone signal No.8 at 05:30 this morning.

Under the joint effect of storm surge and astronomical tide, flooding might occur within the Inner Harbour area with flooding levels between 0.4 to 0.8m in the early morning on the 17th and 18th of July respectively. The public is advised to pay attention to the latest weather information.

Remarks: The probabilities of issuing severe weather warning signals for the next one or two days are provided in the table. Public can learn the possibility of being affected by the tropical cyclone over the specific period of time in Macao so that necessary precautions can be well prepared earlier.
