The 2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2024MIECF) will be held from 28 to 30 March, featuring more than 20 themed activities. Among them, nine are concurrent events such as forums, seminars, promotional sessions, and course accreditation, to be presented in collaboration with professional institutions and industry associations. These concurrent events will focus on new energy development, green innovation, resource recycling, low-carbon transformation, green MICE events, and practice and calculation of carbon emissions from MICE events, among others, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with the aim of fostering green regional co-operation and development through sharing and discussion.
Promoting regional co-operation and green development of the environmental sector in the Greater Bay Area through nine concurrent events
Every year, MIECF sets a different theme and holds a series of concurrent events aligned with the theme. The 2024MIECF, revolving around “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation”, will launch more than 20 themed activities for three consecutive days, including four “Green Forum” sessions, five themed business matching sessions, and nine concurrent events, to explore green development opportunities and green and low-carbon transformation for the environment sector.
The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area New Energy Industry International Summit Forum (Macao) will be jointly organised by DAS Solar, TrinaSolar Co., Ltd., Chint Solar (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Ruxing Technology Development Co., Ltd., the Macao Photovoltaic Industry Association, and the Macao Green & Low Carbon Industry Association. Themed around “Gathering in Macao, Connecting with the World”, the forum seeks to provide an industry resource matching platform for China’s photovoltaic industry, overseas clients, investors in the Greater Bay Area, and the governments of Guangzhou and Macao.
In addition, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Green Innovation Conference in Macao, under the theme of “Promoting Resource Recycling to Construct a Scenic Greater Bay Area”, will be organised by the environmental industry associations of Macao, Hong Kong and Guangdong, consisting of keynote meetings featuring keynote speeches, roundtable sessions and themed presentations. Meanwhile, there will be five sub-forums organised by environmental organisations, where experts and representatives of the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, industry associations, and enterprises have been invited to share their insights on the current situation and trends in solid waste recycling, new recycling technologies and techniques, and the new modes of integrating the recycling markets in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, thereby jointly contributing to the construction of “a waste-free Greater Bay Area”.
Accelerating green and low-carbon transformation through MIECF
Green and low-carbon development is an irresistible global trend in the environmental protection area and is also one of the major topics of the concurrent events during this year’s MIECF. The 2024 Zero Carbon Smart Industrial Park Forum, jointly organised by the Macao Green & Low Carbon Industry Association, the SHENZHEN Development Center of International Low Carbon Forum, and the GBA Carbon Neutrality Association, takes as its theme “On the Digital and Smart Industry for Green Development”. It has invited renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad to probe into the development trend, support policies and key technologies of zero carbon smart industrial parks, with a view to expediting the industrial transformation and upgrading of enterprises.
Moreover, the Course in Practice and Calculation of Carbon Emissions from MICE Events, organised by the Macau Fair & Trade Association and the Macao Low Carbon Development Association, will introduce participants to one-stop solutions for organising green MICE events, the operation of and rationale behind the “MICE & Event Carbon Emission Calculator”, and suggestions on carbon reduction, through a combination of theoretical and practical approaches. There will also be an accreditation ceremony for the first batch of green MICE ambassadors and a course certificate award ceremony.
Other concurrent events cover an array of themes including green and low-carbon transformation in the hospitality industry, the carbon inclusive strategy, green energy, and artificial intelligence. While enriching green development of MIECF, these concurrent events are also expected to produce synergetic effects to extend and enlarge MIECF’s role as a green platform, enhance the overall effectiveness of the event, and contribute to the green exchange and co-operation among the “1+4” industries, thus realising diversified development.
