Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will roll out the four-day Experience Macao roadshow in Malaysia this Friday (5 July), preceded by the “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Travel Mart” on Thursday for Malaysia and Macao travel trade to build collaboration with each other. Through the roadshow, trade seminar and more, Malaysia residents and tourism operators can gain a colorful picture of Macao’s destination appeal, which will widen the city’s pursuit of international markets.

Reach a wider audience in vibrant shopping mall

Since resuming mega promotional events in Malaysia and other international markets last year, MGTO once again sets off for Kuala Lumpur this year to organize the Experience Macao roadshow in Malaysia. The event will take place at Blue Concourse, LG2 of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall for four days (5 – 8 July). Occupying a total area of 4.30 million square feet, Sunway Pyramid is a local shopping hub that carries the design in Egyptian architectural style, as the first themed entertainment and shopping centre in Malaysia. The Office looks forward to reaching a wider audience through the roadshow and sparking Malaysians’ interest in a journey filled with “tourism +” experiences in Macao.

MGTO will set up booths together with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the six integrated resort enterprises from Macao for a showcase of splendid travel elements and new travel facilities in both destinations. The Office also collaborates with travel agencies in Malaysia to promote special offers on Macao travel packages. Famous celebrities and singers are invited to dazzle the event, including Malaysian artists, KOLs and music composers Danny Koo and Hael Husaini, Macao singers Filipe Baptista Tou and Giulianna Fellini. Besides various check-in backdrops, the colorful roadshow will feature interactive virtual reality installations, Macau Grand Prix simulator, fascinating stage performances and interactive games. There will be prize-giving question games, stamp collection and interactive moments. Participants can engage in the activities for a chance to win special souvenirs from Macao. A grand lucky draw will take place daily to give out big travel prizes destined for Macao, which are worth over 80,000 Malaysian Ringgits in total.

“Tourism + MICE” Product Updates Seminar facilitate business partnerships

The “Macao Tourism + MICE Product Updates Seminar & Travel Mart” will unfold at Sunway Resort Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (4 July) to strengthen relations between Malaysia and Macao travel trade. The networking occasion will offer a platform for industry operators from both sides to forge partnerships and explore market potential, joining hands to spur mutual visitations.

MGTO’s pursuit of Southeast Asia markets

With the steady return of air links between Macao and other countries or regions last year, MGTO has progressively unfolded an array of online and offline promotional initiatives to tap into Southeast Asia markets. Online promotions were conducted on social networks and with KOLs. Roadshows and trade seminars were organized in various international markets, alongside participation in major international travel fairs and arrangement for familiarization group visits to Macao. In the first half of 2024, MGTO has organized a succession of mega promotional events in Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand, which enjoyed high popularity. In parallel with the SAR Government’s “1 + 4” development strategy for adequate economic diversification, MGTO will continue to deepen cross-sector integration of “tourism +”, foster regional tourism cooperation and propel market diversification.
