Interdepartmental AML/CFT Working Group Meeting on 12 December 2024

The Interdepartmental Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Working Group with its members from the Public Prosecutions Office, the Commission against Corruption of Macao, the Macao Customs Service, the Legal Affairs Bureau, the Monetary Authority of Macao, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Financial Services Bureau, the Judiciary Police, the Public Security Police Force, the Housing Bureau, the Independent Committee for the Exercise of Disciplinary Power over Solicitors, and the Financial Intelligence Office of the Unitary Police Service (GIF, the coordinating agency), held the 2nd plenary meeting of the year on 12 December 2024. Around 60 representatives from 13 member agencies participated in the meeting.

The meeting covered a wide range of topics, including discussions on the formulation of the future AML/CFT Strategic plan of the Macao SAR, sharing of the latest and revised recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and to review the preparatory work for the next round of Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) mutual evaluation of Macao SAR. GIF will continue to co-ordinate with relevant departments to implement the action items respectively.

The AML/CFT Working Group holds regular plenary meetings each year to promote the implementation of various strategic initiatives on AML/CFT, and to maintain efficient inter-departmental collaboration. Besides, Working Group members keep reviewing current laws, regulations and international standards, so as to establish an effective sound legal framework.
