Chief Executive visits Macao students in Mainland


The Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, today paid a visit to some 200 Macao students studying in Huaqiao University in Xiamen. Mr Ho, who was in Xiamen, Fujian, to attend the 9th China International Fair for Investment and Trade, arrived at the Chinese Language and Culture College of the university in the afternoon and was greeted by the Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Liu Zepeng, and the Principal of the Hauqiao University, Mr Wu Chengye, Supervisor of the University, Mr Tong Chi Kin and student representatives. Mr Ho spoke with the Macao students, who told him about their activities and studies in Xiamen. Mr Ho also expressed his gratitude to the university for its help in nurturing talents from Macao. Mr Ho encouraged the students to capitalise on the excellent conditions offered by the institution and grasp the opportunity to study in order to contribute to Macao and the country in the future. After meeting with students, Mr Ho visited various facilities of the university. Mr Ho will end his two-day visit to Xiamen and return to Macao in the afternoon. Up to June, Huaqiao University has admitted 886 Macao students -- 412 to its campus in Xiamen and 474 to its distant courses held in Macao.
