The Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, today met with the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Mr Alpha Oumar Konaré. Mr and Mrs Konaré arrived in Macao for an one-day visit in the morning. The Chairperson paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive, and attended a luncheon hosted by Mr Ho. Mr Konaré visited Hong Kong and Macao after attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) earlier on. Mr Konaré was elected the President of Mali in 1992 and was re-elected in 1997. He became the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union in 2003.
