Results of the Private Sector Construction Statistics for the 1st Quarter 2006


Information from the Statistics and Census Service shows that in the first quarter of 2006, construction of 19 buildings was started, with 1,372 units and 286,464 m² in gross floor area, up 110.4% and 2.5 times respectively over the first quarter of 2005, but down 45.8% and 51.2% respectively in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2005. A sum of 1,778 parking spaces for cars and 355 parking spaces for motorcycles were provided. In the first quarter of 2006, a total of 12 buildings were completed or extended, involving 354 units and 180,633 m² in gross floor area, up 6.2 times and 118.8% respectively over the first quarter of 2005, but down 6.1% and 14.5% respectively in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2005. A sum of 596 parking spaces for cars and 210 parking spaces for motorcycles were provided. The number of residential buildings completed and extended was 7, supplying 324 building units, up 8.8 times and down 0.9% over the first quarter and fourth quarter of 2005 respectively. The housing units were mainly T2 (197 units), 60.8% of the total, followed by T3 (114 units).
