Macao's MICE development complements neighbours

Macao's Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions industry (MICE), followed the maturity of related facilities in Macao, is complementing the development of the industry in the region, according to the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Tam Pak Yuen. Mr Tam, who officiated the opening ceremony of the largest annual trade fair —the 12th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) -- said Macao had been accelerating the co-operation in exhibitions with the neighbouring region, especially with Guangdong province. He explained that over the past few years the Macao Government had organised local entrepreneurs to exhibit their goods and products in Guangdong, whereas many cities in Guangdong opened up business opportunities when they exhibited in Macao. The policy secretary said it was expected that the complementary co-operation would be more obvious in the future, and that the number of exhibitions in the region would increase, eventually benefiting mutual development in the entire region. Mr Tam stressed that the economic strategy of the Macao SAR was to integrate into the economic development of the entire region and Macao would dedicate to expand the development for the whole region.
