Government listens to opinions on maternity leave

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Francis Tam Pak Yuen, met today with members of the Women's General Association of Macau when he listened to their opinions on the length of maternity leave. The Executive Council was expected to finish discussing a bill on labour relations, said Mr Tam, and he believed the Association's view on maternity leave would be taken into consideration. Mr Tam said that the Government had been formulating an integrated plan to address social issues that emerged in Macao's rapidly growing economy. The goal for this plan was to enhance people's living standards and prevent widening of the gap between the rich and the poor, he said.
