The Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) organized a MICE industry seminar today (22nd) conducted by MGTO’s consultant Mr. Gary Grimmer, to introduce MGTO business tourism strategic plan. Director of MGTO João Manuel Costa Antunes attended the seminar – “Building Macau’s International Meetings Business”. The seminar was divided into two parts. First part was for industry leaders, while the second part was for the management level of sales and services. The seminar included theme talks, workshops, an introduction to MGTO’s business tourism strategic plan, activities of MGTO and Macau Business Tourism Centre as well as plans of industry education programs. MICE and business tourism are priorities in MGTO’s plan for 2007, and training is a very important aspect for this development. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Gary Grimmer, a well-experienced congress industry manager and consultant. Since last year, MGTO has appointed him as business tourism consultant. Mr. Grimmer is chairman of Gary Grimmer & Company, an international convention industry management, training and consulting firm. Prior to starting his own company, Gary was CEO of the convention bureau in Melbourne, Australia and Portland, USA. MGTO believes Mr. Grimmer will make a valued contribution in the course of putting Macau on the world’s business tourism map.
