People's livelihood is of concern to visiting Vice President

Accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, the Vice President Mr Xi Jinping visited two families in the afternoon to get a better understanding of how Macao people lived, especially concerned with the impacts brought by the global financial slowdown. Mr Xi firstly visited the Woo family and asked whether the financial crisis had caused any impact to his family. Mr Woo said as he is employed by the civil service, hence the crisis had no effect on him directly. Mr Woo said construction on many projects had stopped and many construction companies have suffered losses. But it was lucky that the SAR Government launched a string of small to large scale construction works at the appropriate time to lessen the effect, said Mr Woo. The Vice President knew Mr Woo liked to drink tea, and gave him an exquisite tea set. Afterwards, Mr Xi visited the Long family. Mr and Mrs Long are teachers, and have a son. During the visit, Mr Xi talked about the medical and educational systems in Macao, and gave a notebook computer to the family.
